What is UKBA?

Unit Kegiatan Bahasa Asing (UKBA) is a forum for student coaching and development, UKBA prepares students to organize and participate in various coaching and development activities for Foreign language skills in education, research, and community service such as those aspired to in the "Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi."

Before it was inaugurated as a Student Activity Unit at Universitas Negeri Padang in 2016, Unit Kegiatan Bahasa Asing was formerly an English Debate Club called EDeC (English Debate Community).

VISION

"Become a center of English-language creativity for campus residents and the wider community in West Sumatra since 2016"

MISSION

Increase the participation of campus residents and the wider community in organizing English debate activities to realize critical thinking skills

Organizing campus community service in the form of training, seminars, and competitions

Develop and disseminate English debate activities at the district/city and provincial levels

Organizing community service in the form of training, seminars and being a judge for debate activities

THE MEANING OF UKBA LOGO

Symbols Meaning

Adopted from the Universitas Negeri Padang symbol, the Unit Kegiatan Bahasa Asing logo consists of absolute and relative forms which indicate:

1. Paddy: Symbolizes that each UKBA member adheres to a behavior like rice which is fuller and more crouched, where the more they are equipped with knowledge/achievements in their field the more arrogant they are, but the more humble they are.

2. The slogan "Lingua Potentia Est": Language is Power.

3. The U above the podium: Represents the initials of the UKBA organization.

4. Podium: Represents the place where the language is delivered. Field for members in conveying aspirations in public.

5. Griffin Bird: The Griffin Bird is a Greek mythological creature that has the appearance of a lion and an eagle. The good qualities symbolized by this bird are courage, strength and vigilance.

6. Lotus Flower: The Lotus Flower is a flower that still grows gracefully even though it is in the middle of the mud. This symbolizes calm in thinking and not easily affected by bad circumstances. Each member of the Unit Kegiatan Bahasa Asing takes part in many competitions related to implementing language skills, but speaking or speaking is the product of a mature mind, in other words, UKBA members have the trait of thinking before speaking.
